Dr. Sarah Brewer, Associate Director of the Women & Politics Institute, addressed students interested in the Graduate Certificate in Women, Policy, and Political Leadership from the school of Public Affairs, Women and Politics Institute. Dr. Brewer described the program and how it could enhance the utility of a law degree to advance women's rights and work on policy issues that affect women. A current student and a staff member from the registrar's office were on hand to answer questions.

The Women and the Law Program was pleased to host a guest lecture by renowned sociologist Carole Joffe. Professor Joffe, author of numerous books and articles about the relationship of medicine and law to women’s health and reproductive rights, addressed how the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Gonzales v. Carhart affects the everyday realities of abortion provision for women and their doctors.
