Katyal of the Georgetown University Law Center that successfully challenged the Bush Administration’s use of military tribunals at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, 126 S. Ct. 2749 (2006). In addition, he has consulted on and co-authored amicus briefs in a host of other cases arising out of the “war on terrorism,” and has authored reports on related topics for various organizations, including the ABA Standing Committee on National Security.
Vladeck, whose teaching and research interests include federal courts, national security law, constitutional law, and international criminal law, has clerked for the Honorable Marsha S. Berzon on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Honorable Rosemary Barkett on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
