Amy Tenney is the Associate Director of the Program on Law & Government and a member of the adjunct faculty. She directs the daily operations of the Program, including the LLM in Law & Government and the SJD Program. She previously was a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Jenner & Block LLP, where she was a member of the Government Contracts and White Collar Defense & Investigations practice groups. Before joining Jenner & Block she clerked for Judge Leonie M. Brinkema of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and Judge Frank M. Coffin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She also previously served as Chief Aide to then-ACLU President Nadine Strossen and worked for U.S. Representative Carolyn B. Maloney.

Professor Tenney was the Recipient of the Albert E. Jenner Pro Bono Award for her work on behalf of death penalty inmate Kevin Wiggins in both the U.S. Supreme Court, in which the Court set new ground rules for effective legal representation in death penalty cases, and in his re-sentencing proceedings. Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of Advisors for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law & CSI and having served on the Advisory Board of the Center for American Politics and Citizenship. She received a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from New York Law School, where she was a Snow Scholar and the Supervising Editor of the New York Law School Law Review, and a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland.
