Susan Liu

Susan has been licensed to practice law for 25 years and is a member of the state bars of the District of Columbia, Virginia and Hawaii. Susan has 10 years of mediation experience resolving civil and family disputes. She is a court certified mediator and mentor for the Virginia Supreme Court and a court mediator and trainer for the District of Columbia Superior Court, Multi-door Division. Susan’s practice consists of family law, collaborative law, and mediation, and civil mediation, including breach of contract, employment, and real estate disputes.
Susan is an Adjunct Professor of Law at American University, Washington College of Law. She served as a Judge for the ABA’s 2012 national mediation competition and as the Adjunct Coach for WCL’s Negotiation Team for the ABA’s 2011 regional competition. She coached WCL’s Mediation Team for the 2012 International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Competition in Paris, France to a “Best Teamwork” award.
Prior to moving to Washington, DC, Susan practiced in Honolulu, Hawaii for 10 years. Susan Orlando Liu received her JD degree from Golden Gate, School of Law in 1986 and her BS degree, magna cum laude, in Finance from Boston College, School of Management in 1978.
