Each Spring, the Washington College of Law sponsors an Externship Fair at which employers have the opportunity to meet with WCL students to discuss the opportunities available with their organizations. Approximately 130 employers and over 400 students attended last year's Fair. Many organizations use this opportunity to informally interview students in a relaxed atmosphere. Students are encouraged to bring resumes for your review and ask questions about the opportunities you offer. We automatically send out invitations to all employers who have listings in our database. If your organization is not already listed in our database, you MUST create a listing prior to registering for the Fair.

Due to space limitations, we allow ONE representative per employer. Larger employers that have several divisions within the organization may send a representative from each division. Any employer that desires to send more than one representative must first contact us at 202-274-4200.

IMPORTANT! Please note the following requirements for an employer to sponsor an extern. For a fuller description of the requirements for field placements and supervising attorneys, click on Field Placement Requirements.

The position must be UNPAID
The position must entail substantive law-related work
The extern must be supervised by a licensed attorney
Attention: The employer must be a not-for profit organization, government agency, court, or a law firm assigning only pro-bono work.
