Faculty - Paul Williams
Paul Williams is
an Assistant Professor of Law and International Relations. He received
his AB from the University of California at
Davis in 1987, his JD from
Stanford Law School in 1990, and his Ph.D. from the
University of Cambridge in 1998. He is currently teaching Advanced Issues of
Public International Law and the Law of the Sea. Prior to joining WCL,
Professor Williams was Executive director of the
Public International Law and Policy Group.
From 1996 to 1998 he was a Senior associate at the
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. From 1993-1996 he was a Fulbright
research scholar at the University of Cambridge,
1993-96. Prior to that he served as Attorney-adviser
for European and Canadian affairs at the United States Department of
State's
Office of Legal Adviser, 1991-93. Professor Williams is Term member on the
Council on Foreign Relations.
He sits on the Board of Directors of the Acquisitions Support Institute
and he is Vice chair of the
Section on International Organizations of the American Society of International Law
. His publications also include a variety of law review articles
on international environmental law in the
Georgetown International and Environmental Law Review,
Columbia Environmental Law Review, and
Stanford Environmental Law Review. He regularly provides public commentary on
international law in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the
Christian Science Monitor, and U.S. News and World
Report, and on CNN,
BBC, ABC News.
