The application process differs depending on whether you are a practitioner or a law student, and depending on whether you want a Certificate, CLE credit, or academic credit. Practitioners, Environmental Professionals, and Scholars
APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON! If you have questions, email summerenvironment@wcl.american.edu. This program is available for attorneys seeking additional expertise and for other environmental professionals and scholars who want to learn from leading legal minds on U.S. statutory law, U.S. practice techniques, international treaties and customs, environmental institutions, intersections with other major areas of the law, sustainable development, as well as economics and politics. It is also available for law students from both the United States and the rest of the world. All Seminars can be taken for professional development. Upon completion of the program, a Certificate of Attendance will be presented to the participants. Registration: Online: Please click here to access the online form. JD, LLM, Visiting Students, and Practitioners Applying for Academic Credit |
Applications must be submitted to the Registrar’s office. Students who wish to accelerate graduation by Visiting students can apply to use these credits toward an LL.M degree from the Washington College of Law. To apply please complete the registration form available here and mailed directly to the Registrar's Office at: Office of the Registrar Registration deadline: May 14, 2011 subject to space availability. |
WCL JD and LLM StudentsNo special application is required. Please enroll through your my.american.edu account. All courses are 1 credit except for International Institutions and Environmental Protection and Trade and Environment in the Americas, which are both 2 credits. Registration will be open in May 2012. |
Program Changes & Withdrawals
Applicants who have registered or paid a deposit will be informed promptly of any changes in the Summer Session's offerings and, in the unlikely event of a course cancellation, will receive a full refund for the course (excluding the application fee of $65, which is non-refundable).

A refund is only available if you withdraw before the start of the session. Cancellations after that time will not be refunded, however, seminar materials will be sent and access to podcast will be provided. Substitutions will be considered.
