Applications will be accepted until May 28, 2008 subject to space availability.

Visting Students applying for Academic Credit:

We recommend that visting students aplying for academic credit apply at least a week before the courses start.

Applications must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office. A letter of good standing and permission to enroll at the Washington College of Law must accompany your application. Please use the appropriate application to receive academic credit.

Academic Credit Application | Certificate of Attendance or CLE Application

Practitioners: Application for Certificate of Attendance/CLE Credit

All courses can be taken for professional development. Upon completion of the program, a Certificate of Attendance will be presented to the participants.

NOTE: WCL is an accredited provider for Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York and will seek accreditation for all other states as requested.

This program is available for attorneys seeking additional expertise and for other environmental professionals and scholars who want to learn from leading legal minds on U.S. statutory law, U.S. practice techniques, international treaties and customs, environmental institutions, intersections with other major areas of the law, sustainable development, as well as economics and politics. It is also available for law students from both the United States and the rest of the world.

Language Proficiency

Those applicants whose first language is not English must provide us with a minimum TOEFL score of 580 (7 computer base), Michigan test score of 74, or a written certificate of proficiency from an accredited language institute. This requirement is waived for applicants who hold a degree from an accredited U.S. institution.


Applicants for Academic Credit

Students may take no more than six credit hours. If you wish to accelerate graduation by enrolling for summer courses, you must consult and have permission from your home institution. A letter of good standing and permission to enroll at American University Washington College of Law must accompany your application.

Those planning to apply to or already admitted to but not yet enrolled in the Master in International Legal Studies at American University Washington College of Law may apply for up to four credits earned in the Session toward their LL.M. degree if they register for academic credits. Those taking courses for a Certificate of Attendance are not eligible for this benefit.


WCL JD & LLM Students

No special application is required. Register as you would for any other classes at WCL.

Right to Revise

The statements and provisions contained herein are not to be regarded as an irrevocable contract between an applicant for admission to the law school or a law student at American University. The Washington College of Law reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses as necessary.

 

Program Changes and Withdrawals

Applicants who have registered or paid a deposit will be informed promptly of any changes in the Summer Session's course offerings and, in the unlikely event of a course cancellation, will receive a full refund for the course (excluding the application fee of $55 which is non-refundable).

For Academic Credit:
Applicants who have registered or paid a deposit should notify us immediately in case of withdrawal. Students who have registered to receive academic credit must also contact the Office of the Registrar for information about withdrawal forms and deadlines. For Certificate students:
Full refund is only available if you withdraw before the start of classes. You will receive a 50% refund if you withdraw before the second day of classes.
