Ken Markowitz is the President of
EarthPace LLC, a firm that develops decision tools, educational content, and Web systems for
environmental management. He also manages the Law and Technology Program for the
Center for International Environmental Law. He earned a BBA in finance
from Emory Universitys Goizueta Business School
in 1985 and a JD from the Washington College of Law (WCL), American University 1989. He is a member of the Adjunct Faculty
at WCL, teaching water and wetland law, and is on the curriculum advisory board for WCL's international environmental LLM program. Prior
to forming EarthPace, Ken practiced law for over ten years in both the public and private sectors.
Professor Markowitz served as a senior counsel to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region III. For his work, EPA recognized him with several national honors including the Silver Medal for Excellence in Government (1994) and the attorney on the National Superfund Team of the Year (1993). He also practiced with the international law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP , where he gained experience with pollutant trading programs, watershed planning, and project finance for environmental technologies, and with Hall and Associates, where he served as expert counsel on federal regulations for municipal and corporate clients in over 30 states.
