Program on International and Comparative Environmental Law
Welcome to the Environmental Law Program at WCL! The environmental law program encompasses both domestic and international environmental law and provides students with the opportunity to engage in environmental law through classes, research projects, events, international conferences, and externships at DC based government agencies or non-governmental organizations, amongst other things. Since 1990, the Environmental Law Program has continued to grow and has trained environmental lawyers and advocates now working in government, NGOs, and private practice around the world.
Students have the opportunity to choose their environmental law path based on the offerings of our environmental law curriculum. The curriculum also includes an Environmental Law Specialization in the International Legal Studies and Law and Government LL.M. Programs. Full-time and adjunct faculty represent leading environmental lawyers in the Washington, DC area and provide the students with the opportunity to learn from people with a wide-range of expertise in both international and domestic law. Furthermore students can gain practical experience through our Environmental Advocacy Externship Program. The Environmental Law Program also supports students participating in environmental law moot court competitions.
