Since LEP is only a 3 week program with fewer than 18 hours of weekly classroom time, it does not fulfill the time requirements of an F1 student visa. In general, participants will have to obtain a tourist visa to attend LEP. Attendees who are from a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program MUST apply online at the Visa Waiver Program application page.
Please be advised that the Legal English Program does not provide health insurance to its participants. Before you come to LEP please be sure to review your current health insurance policy and its regulations for travel abroad. You should bring copies of your health insurance information with you upon arrival, in the event of an emergency.
*Housing is not included in the price for LEP.

There are three major airports in the Washington, DC area : Dulles International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport, and Reagan National Airport. American University Washington College of Law is located in Northwest DC at 4801 Massachusetts Ave. NW Washington, DC 20016. AU is located on the redline at the AU/Tenleytown stop. There is a shuttle service that will bring you directly from the metro to the university for free. The law school is less than a mile from the metro. You can find more information about the DC metro system at: wmata.com.
Taxis from the airport to the law school can sometimes be expensive. There are other shuttle services such as Super Shuttle that are less expensive and offer door to door service. The Super Shuttle counters are located near the taxi area. You can also take the Washington Flier.
There are several stores in the AU/Tenleytown area where you can purchase "pay as you go" phones. They are inexpensive and are great for short term use in the US. You can also view our other listings of cell phone providers.
