Summer Law Program in Chile

Expenses, Travel & Housing

Expenses

The program fee of $8,100 includes tuition, housing, reading materials, health insurance (during the official dates of the program), organized tours, receptions, and transportation to program activities. Participants are responsible for the cost of all international travel, for most meals (approximately $23 a day), and for commuting to and from classes (approximately $1 a day).

Travel

Participants must make their own arrangements for travel between, Chile, Argentina and their home countries. The program provides information on travel agents in Washington, D.C., who offer low-cost flights for program participants. These agents also have information about ski tours, other activities within Chile and travel to other South American countries. Travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of each participant. The program does not incur any liability for those arrangements. However, students are obligated to inform the program director of their flight information by May 12, 2009, to ensure that transportation arrangements are made from the airport to the residence. Failure to do so may result in the student being responsible for their own transportation from the airport to the hotel.

Housing

In Santiago & Buenos Aires, participants are housed in comfortable two-bedroom apartments (double occupancy per room), complete with a full kitchen and conveniently located to the schools, restaurants and shopping areas. The program also provides hotel accommodations in ViƱa del Mar and at the ski resort.

Visas

U.S. citizens with valid passports are not required to obtain visas to travel to Chile if they intend to stay less than three months. A reciprocity fee* ($100 in 2008) will be required upon entry to Chile. It is the responsibility of citizens of other countries to obtain visas, if required, from Chilean consulates. Students not holding valid passports at the time of application should take immediate steps to obtain them.
