Faculty
The program is supervised by two members of the Washington College of Law faculty who, in addition to attending classes conduct weekly reviews, write and grade the exams. For the 2010 summer session, Professor Richard Ugelow and Professor Stephen Vladeck will be the supervising faculty members.
Students receive instruction from distinguished faculty members of our partner institutions, as well as leading Chilean practitioners and policy makers. Many of these professors are playing key roles in the strengthening of Chilean democratic institutions and in developing Chile's trade policy. Each class is taught by a leading Chilean or Argentine expert in the field of study.
In addition, students have the opportunity to meet for informal question-and-answer sessions with American professionals working in Chile and with representatives of governmental, non-governmental, and international organizations. Visits may include the Supreme Court, the Department of Economy, the Department of Justice, the Chilean Bar Association, Congress of Chile and Argentina,, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Chamber of Commerce, non governmental organizations, and law firms. Students observe the civil law tradition at work during visits to tribunals andgovernmental organizations.
