LSC is the single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans in the nation. Established in 1974, LSC operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that promotes equal access to justice and provides grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans. The Corporation is headed by a bipartisan board of directors whose 11 members are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.

The work can be broken up into discrete issues and students can determine how much work they want to take on.  The issues are those being worked on by attorneys as part of larger projects and will probably be in the areas of administrative and appropriations law, and possibly involve legislative history research. The turn-around time is flexible. Interested students should contact Victor M. Fortuno at fortunov@lsc.gov
