Pro Bono Opportunity: Volunteer Tax Preparer
Volunteer as a Tax Preparer or Savings Promoter with the
DC Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign (www.dceitc.org)!
Our Success Depends On Volunteers Like You!
Trainings start Jan. 16 at WCL! See all dates and other locations:
Make a Difference
Each tax return completed by a volunteer preparer can raise a low-income working family’s income by more than $6,000.
This income boost can help a working family get out of debt, afford winter coats, pay utility bills, and save for future goals and needs.
Savings Promoter volunteers will also be on site helping families use their refunds to move up the economic ladder!
No Professional Experience Needed
If you know how to complete a tax return, or have done your own taxes, you can volunteer as a tax preparer. All preparers receive 12 hours of free training (on Saturdays and/or weekdays evenings) and IRS certification in January.
Or, if you would rather volunteer as a Savings Promoter, you will receive 4 hours of interactive training to enable you to help clients save their refunds, enroll in Money Management classes and credit counseling, and even open direct deposit accounts!
Opportunities for Everyone
In addition to tax preparers, we need volunteer interpreters and Savings Promoter volunteers to educate clients about savings products and free financial resources.
Volunteers at some sites will even help eligible clients register for Food Stamps.
Flexible Hours & Locations
Volunteer for 3-4 hours a week from January 30 through mid April at one of 12 sites throughout the DC area. Most sites are open on evenings and/or weekends.

NOTE: All volunteer hours count as community service hours for the WCL Pro Bono Honors Pledge Program
