Paid Legal Aid Summer Fellowship Program in Florida

The Florida Bar Foundation is sponsoring the 2010 Summer Fellowship Program at legal aid and legal services programs in Florida. The Florida Legal Aid Project Directors' Association sponsors a Terry Russell Summer Fellow to honor Terry Russell, who has made significant pro bono contributions to the delivery of legal services for the poor in Florida; and when President of The Florida Bar, he led the successful effort to pass and fund the Florida Access to Civil Legal Assistance Act. Article: Federal Jobs are Easy to Spot, Hard to Get

In this article, the Wall Street Journal examines the current state of federal goverment hiring.  An estimated 273,000 federal employees will need to be added to the payroll in the next three years to replace retiring employees, according to the Partnership for Public Service.  The article discusses today's government hiring timeline and the challenges faced by the Office of Personnel Management to overhaul the system.

2009 Fall OCI Features Many Public Sector Employers

"Only law firms hire during On-Campus Interviewing."  This is a common misconception about fall OCI recruitment.  This year a full 30% of OCI employers are government and public interest.  Students are encouraged to visit CareerLink and view the employers week-by-week for a full rundown of the government and public interest employers visiting the WCL campus this fall.  And check back often, as additional government and public interest employers will be added in the weeks to come.

Federal Government Career & Internship Fair

The Partnership for Public Service will be hosting its annual Public Service Career and Internship Fair on July 16, 2009 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the National Building Museum.  Last year's fair brought together 67 federal agencies and 3,000 students and young professionals to promote government career and internship opportunities.  Legal and law-related positions will be available with many of the participating agencies.  A list of participating agencies and registration information is available on the event website.
