Blackboard Information
Blackboard is an e-Learning environment serving as a link between students and faculty. Every class being offered has its own Blackboard page (http://blackboard.american.edu).
Instructions for Faculty
Faculty members are encouraged to utilize Blackboard to post class notices, questions, assignments, syllabi, etc. To access Blackboard, please go to our website at http://www.wcl.american.edu and select Blackboard from the menu below the picture on the right. To access this site, you will need a username and password. If you do not have one, please contact the WCL Helpdesk at (202) 274-4021 or send an e-mail to blackboard@wcl.american.edu. All information e-mailed to classnotes@wcl.american.edu will be posted on Blackboard, unless otherwise requested by the professor. If you have any questions, please call the Office of Faculty and Support Services (202) 274-4135. For training or technical assistance, please call the Learning and Resource Center at (202) 274-4382 or send an e-mail to blackboard@wcl.american.edu.

Instructions for Students
In order to access WCL electronic services, a network account must be created. Students are responsible for creating their own network accounts. To create an electronic account, please follow these steps:
Go to https://my.american.edu At the bottom of the page click on "Create a New Account" and follow the prompts (you will need your AU ID number, which is NOT your social security number).
Once you have created a network account you will be able to access Blackboard from our website at http://www.wcl.american.edu (select Blackboard from the list on the left). Use your created username and password to access Blackboard and enroll in courses. Students are responsible for enrolling in courses unless otherwise directed by the professor. Class cancellations and class notices may be e-mailed to the e-mail accounts provided by students on Blackboard. Students should verify that their e-mail address is correct or check their school issued e-mail accounts on a regular basis. Note: the use of Yahoo mail is discouraged as there are many delays when using this service. If you need assistance using Blackboard, please call the Learning and Resource Center at (202) 274-4382, or send an e-mail to blackboard@wcl.american.edu.
Note: If you believe you have already created a network account and are unsure of your name or password, please e-mail the Blackboard Administrator at blackboard@wcl.american.edu. Please include your first and last name, your AU ID number (student number), and a valid e-mail address.
