2008-2009 Team

In April 2009, a team of students represented WCL at the 16th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria. This year's competition brought together 233 teams of law students from all over the world. WCL competed against teams from Hungary, Germany, Bahrain, and Czech Republic in the preliminary rounds before diverse Tribunals including practitioners from Germany, the U.S., and the Netherlands, among others. The team received an honorable mention for Best Claimant's Brief, one of the two legal memoranda submitted in the competition. Approximately 20 teams out of 233 received honorable mentions for each brief, placing WCL within the top 15% of teams for the Claimant's brief.

2007-2008 Team

In March 2008 a team of students represented WCL at the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria. WCL competed against teams from Belgium, China, Germany, Ukraine, and the United States.

We are thrilled to report that WCL advanced to the elimination rounds with a score of 1048.  The highest team score was 1112 and a score of 1035 was required to enter the elimination rounds which included only the top 64 teams -- WCL was ranked at 39 with a score of 1048. We are also very proud to report that J. Hess won third place in the individual oralist category, from among over 1,000 students who participated.

We are very pleased with the team's accomplishments, in particular because this was WCL’s first year participating in the competition. This year's team consisted of:
