Taught by leading practitioners and arbitrators from throughout the world, the International Arbitration Summer Session focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of international arbitration and provides insights on the practice of international arbitration and the handling of arbitration cases.
The Summer Session is open to practitioners for a certificate of attendance and continuing legal education (CLE) credit. JD and LLM candidates can earn academic credit. Courses are designed to meet the complex needs and busy schedules of practicing attorneys. Students will gain first-hand knowledge of the complexities of international commercial arbitration and earn up to five credits during the three-week period. Visiting students can apply to use these credits toward an LLM degree from the Washington College of Law.

Featured Course in Spanish!
Developed at the request of our partners in Latin America, the course “Arbitraje
Comercial Internacional,” is a Spanish alternative to the “Nuts and Bolts” course
and an attractive option for firms with increasing caseloads in Latin America to
expose their attorneys to an arbitration context in Spanish.
El curso Arbitraje Comercial Internacional puede ser tomado por crédito académico o diploma y está a cargo de Horacio Grigera Naón. El mismo tendrá lugar dejunio 2 a 5 de 13 a 16 hs.
El curso tiene por objeto brindar una introducción general
al arbitraje comercial internacional e incluye los siguientes temas: elementos básicos
del arbitraje internacional, el acuerdo arbitral, cómo redactar una cláusula de arbitraje,
el derecho aplicable, inicio del arbitraje, la constitución y organización del
tribunal arbitral, imparcialidad e independencia de los árbitros, conducción del proceso,
audiencias arbitrales y reconocimiento y ejecución de los laudos arbitrales.
