2008 International Arbitration Summer Session Networking Activities
Monday, June 2: "Private Resolution of International Intellectual Property Disputes” co-sponsored with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation CenterA group of leading practitioners in the field will discuss the arbitration of disputes under the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Rules and current issues regarding the arbitration and mediation of International IP Disputes. Faculty experts include: Jay I. Alexander, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP; Christine Haight Farley, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Associate Director, Glushko-Samuelson Intellectual Property Law Clinic, and Co-Director, Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property American University Washington College of Law; David Kelly, Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP; Eun-Joo Min, Head Legal Development Section, WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center; David W. Plant, Independent Arbitrator and Mediator; and Joshua Sarnoff, Assistant Director, Glushko-Samuelson Intellectual Property Law Clinic, American University Washington College of Law. The conference will take place on June 2, 2008, from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at American University Washington College of Law, 4910 Massachusetts Ave N.W., and is organized in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center. An informal lunch will be provided. Monday, June 9: “Using Senior Executive Appraisal Mediation (SEAM) to Handle a Large Dispute”Ian Hanger AM QC, a leading commercial dispute resolution practitioner from Australia and adjunct professor at the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Queensland will share his perspectives on using Senior Executive Appraisal Mediation (SEAM) to handle a large dispute. The lecture will take place on Monday, June 9, 2008, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at American University Washington College of Law, 4801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC in Room 403. Friday, May 30, Thursday, June 5, and Thursday, June 12: Coffee Hour with Faculty ExpertsCome and network with the faculty experts and participants of the 2008 Arbitration Summer Session. Coffee hours will take place at American University Washington College of Law, 4801 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC in room 600 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, in the Dean’s Suite on Thursday, June 5, and Thursday, June 12. |
