Cross-Examination in International Arbitration

Cross-examination plays a paramount role both for counsel (who has to master this difficult task to make the best of his or her case) and the arbitrator (who has to learn how to glean from the interaction between the cross-examiner and the witness the grains of truth on the basis of which the decision is to be made).

Led by José I. Astigarraga, partner at Astigarraga Davis, this four-hour practical seminar will take up the art of cross-examination in international arbitration proceedings and cover cross-examination techniques, scope of cross-examination, the role of the tribunal in controlling cross-examination, cross-examination styles and dealing with advocates from different legal cultures.

The seminar is geared towards domestic and foreign practitioners working in the area of international arbitration, corporate counsel, and arbitrators. Practicing lawyers involved in international trade and dispute resolution will also benefit from the training.
