WILLIAM RYAN '85
William Ryan has worked full-time for the law library since 1987. After graduating from law school in 1985, he continued studying at American University's School of International Service attempting to finish the JD/MBA dual degree program. In an attempt to save money, he took a position with the University library to take advantage of the University's tuition remission benefit. Much to his surprise he discovered he enjoyed the scholarly atmosphere in the library. So, when a position opened in the Law library, he moved back. To complete his transformation, he graduated from the University of Maryland in 1992 with his Master of Library Science degree.
During his time at the Law library, he has been engaged in a full circuit of responsibilities. Beginning as a book shelver and door guard, he worked the circulation desk as a student. As a full-time employee, he has worked both as a staff member and a professional librarian. Today he serves as the Foreign and International Law specialist.
