Thomas F. Morante
Mr. Morante is a 1977 graduate of the Washington College of Law.
He is currently a partner at Holland and Knight, splitting his time between their Miami and Washington, DC offices. His practice focuses on the intersection of insurance, securities, banking and tax laws in an evolving and increasingly complex global regulatory framework. He counsels life insurers, property & casualty and other non-life insurers, health insurers, reinsurers, captive insurers, hedge funds, financial institutions, investment banks, and financial intermediaries, and addresses their domestic and international regulatory, compliance and transactional needs. Fluent in Spanish, he has also handled corporate finance and cross-border transactions in numerous foreign countries with emphasis on Latin America. He has also advised foreign governments in connection with insurance and financial services reform legislation. Prior to Holland and Knight he was head the Washington, DC and Miami, FL offices of Jones Walker, serving as co-chair of the firm's Insurance, Banking, and Financial Services Industry Group as well as its international practice.
Mr. Morante is the current chair of the Washington College of Law's Myers Society. He also serves as co-chair of the Latin American Law Subcommittee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, and he has been appointed by the Inter-American Bar Association as a Vice President of Committee I, Public and Private International Law. He is the South Florida regional coordinator for The Export Legal Assistance Network. Every year since 2004 Mr. Morante has been named one of the top lawyers in south Florida by South Florida Legal Guide. He is also listed in the area of International Trade and Finance Law in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White, Inc.)
