Deborah Meland

Ms. Meland received her J.D. from the Washington College of Law in 1983. As a student, Ms. Meland co-chaired the Women's Law Association and helped launch the inaugural Founders' Day Celebration and the inaugural Emma Gillett and Emma Spencer-Mussey Scholarships. Ms. Meland served as a Dean's Fellow for two years: first to Dean of Faculty, Marianna Smith, and then to Professor Janet Spragens.

Ms. Meland is the Chief of the Civil Trial Section, Eastern Region, in the Tax Division of the Department of Justice. Ms. Meland joined the Department of Justice through the Attorney General's Honors Program 1983. Ms. Meland received the Assistant Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service in 2004, in recognition of her leadership in Tax Shelter Promoter related litigation.

Ms. Meland is an active alumna, a Myers Society member and a Consecutive Giving Society member, giving both personal time and financial support to the law school.
